Aetna Medicare Supplement
Aetna Medicare Supplement
Aetna offers three different Medicare supplement plans, Plan A, Plan B and Plan F. Not all plans are offered in all states. Aetna advises anyone interested in obtaining an Aetna Medicare Supplement policy to call their local Aetna representative to see which plan is currently offered.
Plan A provides coverage for 365 additional days after Medicare benefits end. It also provides Medicare Part A coinsurance. Coinsurance is defined by Aetna as the percent of the Medicare-approved amount that you pay for a covered medical service. With some plans, you do not pay coinsurance until you have first paid a deductible.
Plan A coverage also includes the Medicare Part B coinsurance and the first three pints of blood each year.
Aetna’s Plan B pays Medicare Part A coinsurance, plus coverage for 365 additional days after Medicare benefits end plus Medicare Part B coinsurance. Plan B also pays the Medicare Part A deductible and first three pints of blood each year.
Aetna’s Plan F coverage is a bit more extensive. It covers Medicare Part A coinsurance, plus coverage for 365 additional days after Medicare benefits end in addition to the Medicare Part B coinsurance.
In addition, the first three pints of blood each year and the Medicare Part A and Part B deductible are covered. If Part B excess charges (the difference between Part B Medicare-approved amounts and the limiting charge: no more than 15% of Medicare-approved amount) arise, they are covered. Plan F also includes skilled nursing coinsurance and foreign travel emergency care.
Remember, not all plans are offered universally. This means you have to check with your local representative to see what is available in your area.
