Reno Motorcycle Insurance

When it comes to mandatory insurance for your vehicle, your motorcycle is no exception. In Reno a registered motorcycle has to maintain insurance. Each state has minimum limits you must carry to satisfy the guidelines.

As with auto insurance, you should shop around to get the best possible premium for your Reno motorcycle insurance. Insurers are as different as night and day. It is a given their rates will vary. Some may offer superior service, coverage, discounts, in addition to a lower premium.

A common mistake consumers make when shopping for quotes is to not give the exact same information to every company they call. That just defeats the purpose of shopping around for the lowest premium. You have to compare apples-to-apples in order to get a fair comparison of rates.

On the other side of the picture, the insurance company will need certain information before they can give you a quote. That information is, but not always, your marital status, birth date, zip code in which you live, year/make/model of your bike, your driver’s license number, social security numbers, and the coverage and limits you want.

Just as with an auto, you can put bodily injury and property damage, uninsured/underinsured motorist, medical payments and liability on your motorcycle. The numbers on the liability part of the policy usually look like this: 50/100/25. 50, or $50,000, is the amount that would be paid for bodily injury.

$100,000 is the most that would be paid per accident for bodily injury regardless of the number of people injured while $25,000 is the maximum that would be paid per accident for property damage.

Some reno motorcycle insurance policies cover comprehensive and collision. This coverage pays for repair or replacement of your motorcycle if it is damaged, regardless of who is at fault. Comprehensive covers your bike if it is stolen or damaged by fire, vandalism or the like. Collision typically pays for damage to your bike if you have an accident with another vehicle or object.

Custom parts and accessories is a coverage usually provided in the amount of $1000, although amounts vary, when you purchase physical damage coverage. Obviously anyone with custom parts and accessories would have at least a minimum interest in hearing about this coverage.

If you need your bike towed to the nearest qualified repair shop due to an accident, roadside assistance is the part of the policy that will pay. Since roadside assistance has conditions and exclusions, it is wise to ask your agent the extent to which you are covered.

As mentioned above, the same type of coverage is available for your motorcycle. If you want to protect your motorcycle, you will research the type of coverage that fits your situation.
